How Do We Polish Concrete?

The polishing process is simple to understand but it takes time, skill, and the right equipment to get the best results. Here’s a brief explanation of our process:

  • We add densifiers to the concrete to harden the surface if the latter is suitable for it. We’ll also repair any cracks or problems to make sure the substrate is ready for polishing.
  • Our experts will then grind the surface to remove unevenness and dents.
  • We’ll then use increasingly finer grits to achieve the level of polish requested by the client.

Levels of Polish 

There are 4 levels of concrete polish we can apply to floors and you can choose one based on your requirements and budgets.

  • Flat – This finish is matte and requires no more than 100-grit resin bond. The surface will be cloudy and flat, without much shine. It’s ideal for industrial environments.
  • Satin – Satin finish has a slight sheen to it and it’s not as matte. It looks soft and is great for industrial and commercial applications as well. We don’t need more than 400-grit resin bond.
  • Semi-Polished – This is a step above satin and gives your concrete surface a muted shine. The floor will have clarity and good light reflection so it’s a great choice for commercial and residential properties.
  • High Gloss – As the name suggests, this finish ensures your floors have high shine. This is the most beautiful finish and is often used in residential properties and showrooms. We can add aggregate to the concrete mixture and use high-gloss polishing to bring out the beauty of the stones. The overall effect is very beautiful but this finish requires a little more care and maintenance.
